Open Call: The Compound Gallery

Award: $250, $150, $100  

Location: Bay area

Deadline: May 1

Who should apply: Emerging and established printmakers in the bay area

What you should know: This is a showcase for emerging artists to show their work within the vibrant Bay Area community that is many times under-represented in the major art venues in the area. Accepted entries will be displayed at the gallery and for sale from June 8-August 4.

Competition: Fusion Art: 3rd Annual Black and White Art Competition

Location: Palm Springs, California

Deadline: May 1

Who is it for: painting, drawing, pastels, inks, pencil, printmaking, encaustic, and mixed media, photography, vector drawing, digital mixed media, relief, pottery, sculpture, installation, kinetic, and conceptual 3-D artworks

What you should know: The artwork can range from realism to surrealism to abstraction and artists, regardless of location or experience, are encouraged to submit their best representational and/or nonrepresentational art and photography.

Award: $2000, $750, $250

Location: San Francisco

Who is it for: Photographers from around the world

What you should know: Award winners will be featured on Bokeh Bokeh Photo and exhibited during the Month of Photography at ACCI Gallery in Berkley

Award: $19,000 in Cash and Merchandise Awards

Who is it for: Watercolor artists from around the world

What you should know: The international exhibition has been a major highlight for more than three decades, attracting hundreds of artists from around the world.

Who is it for: Painters, sculptors, other mediums

What you should know: This is your chance to create artwork inspired by the love of modern and contemporary music. Show your idea of what rock and roll looks like. Create artwork inspired by modern and contemporary music. Show us what rock and roll looks like

visually through paintings, sculptures, or any form of artistic expression that music evokes in you.
